Salesforce has released its latest exam and certification focusing solely on Agentforce!
Aptly named the Agentforce Specialist Certification, this cert is tailored for Salesforce professionals who are eager to become experts within the AI platform and leverage its capabilities. Yet it is also aimed at those who are key in other areas of AI implementation within Data, Service, and Sales Cloud.
The Agentforce Specialist certification is an update to Salesforce’s previous exam, the AI Specialist, which will officially go into retirement beginning of 2026.
About the Agentforce Specialist Certification and Exam
Unless you’re new to Salesforce then we all know that Agentforce is the focus of the CRM. In just five months they have already delivered an updated version which shows that Salesforce isn’t going to be backing down from this anytime soon.
Released on March 3rd, 2025, this certification has been designed for those who are proficient in Agentforce and have strong knowledge of Salesforce’s functionalities.
Here is what you can expect from the Certified Agentforce Specialist exam:
Structure:
- Prompt Engineering: 30%
- Agentforce Concepts: 30%
- Agentforce and Data Cloud: 20%
- Agentforce and Service Cloud: 10%
- Agentforce and Sales Cloud: 10%
You will have 60 multiple-choice questions to answer, 105 minutes to complete and you will need a pass rate of 73%. The initial exam is free, but to resit there is a $100 (£77) fee if unsuccessful till 21st December 2025 and there are no prerequisites.
Why is Salesforce removing the AI Specialist exam?
Originally built to understand the AI functionalities of Salesforce (namely Einstein AI), the AI Specialist exam would introduce professionals and trailblazers to its capabilities and how everyone can benefit from AI within the CRM platform.
The structure of the AI specialist exam:
- Einstein Trust Layer – 15%
- Generative AI in CRM Applications – 17%
- Prompt Builder – 37%
- Agentforce Tools – 23%
- Model Builder – 8%
However, many saw this exam as ‘easy’ and didn’t give professionals the knowledge of AI that they were looking for or show their full expertise to new employers. Whereas the Agentforce Specialist exam will test you further and validate your knowledge within Salesforce’s AI.
Not only is the new certification a development from the first, but it is a needed change to allow Salesforce professionals the opportunity to become Salesforce AI and Agentforce experts.
And so, Salesforce announced its retirement earlier this year on February 2nd, 2026.
You can still sit the AI specialist exam, but you have until 31st March 2025 to sign up. But once the exam has been officially retired that will also show up on your trailblazer profile, so will make more sense for you to complete the Agentforce Specialist Exam instead.
But like with any certification you are looking to gain in Salesforce, you first need to train and learn more about the exam via Trailhead which leads onto our next point, Agentblazer.
Agentblazer
Who doesn’t love collecting a badge or status once you’ve completed a Salesforce exam?
Whether you’re just starting in the world of Agentforce or ready to become an expert, these trails will give everyone the expertise to ace their exam and become an Agentblazer.
With three levels to aim towards including Champion, Innovator (available now), and Legend, (coming soon), the Agentblazer trails are designed to show your Agentforce skills and to give members of the ecosystem a path to building autonomous agents and, of course, to showcase expertise.
What does each status include?
Agentblazer Champion: The first step into learning about Salesforce AI and Agentforce. Learn about the fundamentals, Data cloud and governance, and you can get help with building your first agent.
Agentblazer Innovator: Here is where you can build custom agents with Agent Builder and identify cases of when to implement. Innovator will allow you to configure for Service and Sales, addressing challenges and how you can drive successful outcomes.
Agentblazer Legend: The highest status you’ll be able to receive, anyone who completes and become Legend status will have developed deep understanding of advanced concepts. You will design strategies on how to manage and customisation of the Agentforce lifecycle.
It’s the last level which will ensure you are prepared to take the Agentforce Specialist Certification. We know many of you will be eager to get started and jump in, but this will be both beneficial and needed for you to be successful.
Conclusion
With how far Salesforce’s AI capabilities have grown it only seemed right for the older AI Specialist Certification to be retired.
Although it can be a great stepping stone into the AI world for many within the Salesforce ecosystem, many are looking for that next opportunity to expand their knowledge which this will do. Yet, the Agentforce Specialist Certification has been made for all in mind by introducing the Agentblazer modules, giving those new to Agentforce the opportunity to learn and grow their understanding on the AI platform.
